Mr Duffy – who is a Scotsman columnist – is behind The Crypto Standard, and said: “This show is not about the usual Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ‘to the moon’ male-oriented fraternity. Rather, it is all about simplifying crypto for all to make it less scary, more understandable and more fun for a family audience.”
He is supported in the venture by Edinburgh-based payments platform Zumo and blockchain-focused Gokhshtein Media, and wants to stress how easy it is to get involved in crypto.
His co-host and nephew Jordan Walker stated: “The show is designed to be listened to by everyone from your grandson to your granny – crypto isn’t something that only a select few can get access to, and for young people especially it’s a sector that is booming, while very normal.”
Mr Duffy cited a recent Zumo consumer survey showing that more than half of 18–24-year-olds believe it will be accepted as payment in the next ten years.
Zumo chief marketing officer Amelie Arras said: “Working with Jim on the launch of this show made complete sense for us as a means of working with the best in the business to achieve our goal of normalising and democratising cryptocurrency.”
David Gokhshtein, founder of Gokhshtein Media and chief executive of PAC Protocol, said supporting the new podcast is “exactly the right thing to do to help educate people in the power of cryptocurrency”.
